What kind of bike should I buy?

We recommend you bring the bike with which you feel the most comfortable. A no-frills touring bike is perfectly adequate; heavy mountain bikes with large tires and lots of shock absorbers can feel a bit punishing on some uphills. We also do not recommend expensive racing bikes as the tires may be too thin for some of the minor pebble-strewn bike paths. Remember, too, that a comfortable bike seat is the key to an enjoyable full day's cycling.

Do I need to bring my bike with me from overseas or can I rent one from VeloTours?

We do have a number of bikes available for rent for a small daily fee. Call/write to us at the time of reservation for rates and availability.

What other equipment should I bring?

Apart from your bike, clothing, and other personal equipment, there's not much else you need to worry about. Our guides carry spare tools and parts for minor on-the road repairs, and we will only be cycling in the daytime. That being said, a helmet, a flashlight and a complete set of front and back bike reflectors are always useful in emergencies.
